Selinda Camp is a small, luxury tented safari camp on the banks of the eastern Selinda Spillway, which links the Okavango Delta to the Linyanti and Kwando marshes. The camp was completely rebuilt and reopened in July 2019.
Guests are now treated to an exclusive experience while staying in luxurious, opulent accommodation, that said, the atmosphere at Selinda is one of easy going warmth with genuine hospitality. There are just three guest tents and one separate two-bedroom tented villa. Each generous tent sits under thatch which creates shade and helps keep the room cool. Inside the decor is an eclectic homage to safaris of yesteryear with a nod to Livingstone combined with beautiful and unique carved furniture and artefacts. Each tent differs from the next in colour pallette and theme. Out on your private deck you can relax and enjoy the vistas from your own plunge pool. The villa offers the ultimate in exclusivity and privacy. You'll have your own entrance, private vehicle and guide, chef and manager/butler.
The main areas are just as attractive, with various decks where you can sit and pass the time with other guests. Dining usually takes place communally but you can enjoy a secluded private dinner if you wish. There are plush leather sofas and decor fashioned from reclaimed wood and rope to finish off the look.
It is in the 320,000 acre private Selinda Reserve, so exclusivity is guaranteed. The co-owners of the camp since 2007 are world renowned wildlife film makers Dereck and Beverly Joubert, who have filmed and photographed many of the animals of the Okavango. There is an art gallery in camp and an area where guests can download and view their photographs.
This region borders Chobe National Park's western boundary and is an area rich in wildlife with varied habitats. Much of the concession is wooded but there is a strip of floodplains along the Linyanti River. The Savute Channel also feeds water to this area, now flowing again after many years of being dry. This area is famous for large herds of elephants but other abundant species include zebra, wildebeest, impala, giraffe, lechwe, reedbuck and kudu. Predators here include lion, spotted hyena, leopard, cheetah and wild dog.
At the peak of the dry season in late September, the Selinda Reserve has been documented to hold up to 9000 elephants. All the major predators are present: lion, leopard and cheetah and this region is well known for wild dog (which den in June / July). There are good densities of giraffe and buffalo (in the dry season) and all the antelope - including roan and sable.

Client Rating for Botswana 5/5 from 120 reviews
I knew I was going to love this camp from the moment I arrived. The position is just gorgeous and there is something special about arriving somewhere by boat. The staff are immediately welcoming and as an added bonus there was even an elephant in camp helping himself to leaves from the trees by the fire pit! I thought the rooms were excellently done and the meals were delicious. I had time for a couple of boat trips and game drive. One afternoon there were lions, cheetah and even wild dogs seen on the drives, and on the boat trip we saw elephants playing in the waters of the Spillway. I very much wish I had had longer here, and I will certainly return.
