Watching elephants from guest tent verandah at Satao Camp, Tsavo East, Kenya

Nestled amongst trees and surrounding a central waterhole, the semi-circular layout of the camp provides an excellent viewing point for each of our guests. Satao Camp has 20 tents, all en-suite, thoughtfully positioned to ensure a full view of the watering hole.

The tents are made up of 16 family tents and 4 suites. They are made of canvas and have a makuti roof. At the front there is a veranda with table and chairs. The tents are exquisite, attractively furnished with locally made beds and unique African designs. The private bathrooms have running water, a hand basin, flush toilet and bucket shower. You will be provided with hot water each evening for your shower. The suites have authentic antique writing desks and beautiful African bed and cushion covers. Comfort and the personal touch is a priority here.

You will go out on early morning and later afternoon game drives in the national park, one of the oldest and largest in Kenya. You will see a wide variety of animals including large herds of elephants, and a great many birds. With its beautiful scenery and varied landscapes, this is a photographer's paradise.
