Open: Sasaab is open all year apart from the month of November when it is closed for 2 weeks for maintenance.

Location: Sasaab is set on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River near Buffalo Springs National Reserve in Kenya's Northern Frontier District. There are airstrips at Sasaab and Kalama. There are scheduled and charter flights to Samburu. It is about a 7 hour drive from Nairobi.

Rooms: There are 9 large tented rooms including 1 family suite with 2 en-suite bedrooms and a shared living area. The indoor and outdoor space of each room is over 100sqm. All tents have private terraces facing the river with loungers and a plunge pool. Rooms feature 4-poster beds, seating areas and open air bathrooms. Beds are fitted with mosquito nets. There is a safe and a cool bag for drinks in each room. You'll also find a yoga mat in your room. In total Sasaab accommodates up to 18 guests.

Activities: You can go on game drives in Samburu National Reserve in search of the Samburu Special 5 (Grevys zebra, reticulated giraffe, beisa oryx, gerenuk antelope and Somali ostrich). Guides are on hand to lead nature walks and bird walks. While here you can visit local villages and lively markets and learn about Samburu culture. Enjoy sundowners and panoramic views at Sundowner Rock. Fly camping can be arranged for those wanting to spend extra time in the bush.

Facilities: Sasaab has a souk style mess area where you can chill between activities. You can watch wildlife from the main deck. There is an outdoor swimming pool. The food is of a high quality and is supplemented by a pizza bar located by the pool. SpaSaab offers a range of beauty and health treatments using Liz Earle skin care products. You can indulge in facials, massages, manicures, pedicures and body scrubs. There is a pool in the spa. Yoga and pilates sessions can be organised.

Dining: Meals are eaten at individual tables. All meals and most drinks are included in your stay.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome, and those under 3 years of age stay for free. There is a family suite with 2 bedrooms, and extra beds can be provided in other suites. Child minding can be arranged. Samburu guides can plan special activities for children such as learning to make bows and arrows, toothbrushes from trees and enjoy grilled marshmallows.

Health: This is a malarial area.

Communication: There is free Wi-Fi internet access in guest suites and main areas

Notes: Sasaab is owned by The Safari Collection, who also own Giraffe Manor in Nairobi, Sala's Camp in the Masai Mara and Solio Lodge between Mount Kenya and the Aberdares.
