Open: All year.

Location: Sani Lodge is located south of the Cuyabeno Reserve and north of the Yasuni National Park in the Amazon rainforest. Guests generally fly in to Coca and then take the Sani motorboat along the Napo River, about a 3 hour ride, followed by a short walk along a boardwalk and a motorised canoe ride to the lodge.

Rooms: The lodge has 10 cabins, each sleeping up to 3 people (one double and one single), plus a spacious two-storey house divided into 4 family rooms, each sleeping up to 7 people. All have private bathrooms, screened windows, private decking or balconies and thatched roofs. All have electric lights powered by solar panels.

Activities: The 37 metre treetop viewing tower is open for day and night visits. There is a vast network of rainforest walking trails and guests can swim in the lagoon. Canoeing and fishing on the lagoon, boat trips to view wildlife, night walks, visits to the parrot clay lick in Yasuni National Park and learning to use a traditional blow pipe can be arranged. Guests are also welcome to visit the Sani Isla community and a native home.

Facilities: There is an open air dining room, serving 3 meals a day with both international and local dishes. The lounge bar looks out on the rainforest, so guests can enjoy a drink while watching the wildlife. Hammocks, binoculars, books, games and an acoustic guitar are available at the bar free for guest use. The lodge sells locally made arts and crafts as well as torches, batteries and clothing.

Dining: Meals are taken at shared tables.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome. Children of 8 years and younger stay free of charge.

Health: We recommend malarial prophylactics for a stay at Sani Lodge.

Communication: There is Wi-Fi internet access, but this is weather dependent so cannot be guaranteed.

Client Rating for Ecuador 5/5 from 82 reviews

Fabulous location, great staff and appropriate accommodation for an eco lodge. The fact that the power goes off for large parts of the day and night underlines the eco nature of the lodge and wasn't a problem.
