The striking design of Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge, with its smooth curves and fluid lines, takes its inspiration from the overlapping scales and overall from a pangolin. It's a distinctive look, quite unlike any other lodge, and the lack of sharp edges helps it blend into the surrounding landscape. Sandibe has an enviable location in a private concession adjoining Moremi Game Reserve, making it perfect for game drives by day and night and guided walks, so you'll enjoy a rich and varied safari experience.
Cosy indoor social areas lead out to a series of expansive wooden viewing decks, so there are plenty of places to rest between activities, chatting with other guests and enjoying the magnificent delta views. The boma, atmospherically lit by lanterns at night, is built from several large logs arranged in decreasing size, to mimic the tail bones of the pangolin. Meals are served both here and in the elevated dining area.
The 12 guest suites are partially inspired by the circular nests of weaver birds, curvaceous exteriors set on stilts with the accommodation reached via an elegant stairway. The large bedroom has a sitting area and an open fireplace. Mesh doors allow you to enjoy the sights and sounds of the surrounding bush while feeling completely safe and secure. The en-suite bathroom has twin hand basins and a shower, and there's a separate toilet plus an outdoor shower with delta views. Each deck has two large day beds and a plunge pool where you can while away the time and enjoy the views.

More reviewsIf you want out and out luxury and all mod-cons in the middle of the bush, this is the place to come. It's worth coming for the architecture alone. The weaver bird nest rooms are both homely, stylish and very civilised - by which I mean that despite the remote location you have all the electricity you need, an internal telephone system, your own plunge pool and wood-burning stove, air-con and wifi. The food was superb, the staff could not be more professional or friendly, and, importantly, the guiding was excellent and we had some of the best gameviewing of our whole trip here.
