If you are looking for a memorable place to stay in Swakopmund then Sam's Giardino is a good contender.  Owned and run by Sam and his delightful companion, Beethoven, the resident dog, you are ensured of a wonderful welcome. Many of the women employed at Sam's are from the local township and Sam has taken them under his wing and trained them, they add another friendly dimension to your stay here.

There are 9 spacious rooms at the guest house, located on two levels.  Those downstairs lead out to the gardens, whilst those upstairs have wonderful high ceilings, and Juliette balconies overlooking the gardens.  The rooms are all bright and light with crisp white linens and splashes of colour added with the throws. As you would expect the en-suite bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet, toiletries are supplied too. One thing to mention is the rooms all have heating, this can be very welcome on a chilly winters morning in Swakopmund.  

The main areas all have their own unique feel and there is plenty of reading material and information available on Namibia and Swakopmund, but if you prefer, just chat to Sam, he'll tell you all you need to know. There is a lounge with TV, a breakfast room, a small mezanine reading room and also Sam's pride and joy, the wine enoteca.  By night the breakfast room is transformed into a bistro restaurant serving delicious dinners accompanied by superb wines.

The well-stocked wine enoteca is something you won't find in your average guest house, but wine is Sam's passion.  He holds regular wine-tastings and encourages guests to sample wines with the 5 course gourmet dinner which is excellent value. The menu changes each day alternating between fish and meat and uses the freshest local ingredients available.

There are plenty of activities to do in and around Swakopmund and Sam will be able to assist you if you need any advice, alternatively take this opportunity to enjoy the shady gardens and lie back and soak of up warmth on one of the comfortable loungers.
