Open: Sacha Lodge is open all year.

Location: Sacha Lodge is in a 2,000 hectare private ecological reserve in the Amazon rainforest. From Coca there is a 2 hour motorboat ride along the Napo River, followed by a short walk through the forest to Pilchicocha Lake, which is crossed by canoe.

Rooms: There are 26 guest rooms, built using local materials. They have high thatched roofs, ceiling fans and en-suite bathrooms with hot water, showers, flush toilets, fresh towels and a range of toiletries. Windows are screened to prevent insects getting in. Each room has a shaded veranda with a hammock. There are sockets for recharging batteries.

Activities: You will be divided into small groups for activities. Each group will have 2 guides, one local with expert knowledge and the other a trained bilingual naturalist. Special ornithological guides are provided on request, which needs to be done before you arrive. You can follow forest trails and boardwalks, explore lakes and creeks by canoe, visit the Yasuni parrot lick and take a treetop canopy walk. There is a viewing tower 135 feet high for wonderful views over the forest. Night walks and canoe trips are possible, too. Between activities you can relax at the lodge, enjoy a swim in the lake and socialise with fellow guests. You can visit the butterfly house, which breeds almost 40 different species.

Facilities: The central area includes a lounge and well-stocked bar, above which is a raised viewing area overlooking the lake. Meals are served buffet-style and offer a wide variety of dishes. There is an outdoor restaurant overlooking teh river serving a la carte dinners and on some evenings there is a barbecue by the lake. The lodge has 24 hour electricity. There is a laundry service, payable locally. Wellington boots and ponchos are provided free of charge.

Dining: Meals are taken at set times and eaten at separate tables.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome, but there will be age limits on certain activities. There are special activities near the lodge for children

Health: This is a malarial area.

Communication: There is no internet access, but in emergencies there is cell phone and radio communication.
