We loved this lodge and the staff. The room had an amazing view and we particularly enjoyed the outdoor shower with a view over the valley. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and made us so welcome. We felt it had a very intimate atmosphere. The food was also very good and they they catered well for vegetarians.

Amazing place with stunning views. We loved the banda! The outdoor bathroom was interesting (!) and a bit of a challenge at night! The banda itself was comfortable and private. We enjoyed the starry skies and nocturnal animal/insect sounds. On our last night a lion and some elephants got into a confrontation at the dried up river below. Too dark to see - but what a racket! The staff were lovely - very attentive - and the food was good and plentiful!

A good value safari resort. The rooms provided understated luxury whilst being authentic and full of character and the views from our verandahs were stunning. The staff were very efficient, helpful and happy! The quality of the food exceeded our expectations. The girls said, however, that the pool was very, very cold!

Sable Mountain Lodge was an unusual place. It was very nice and comfortable, but there were relatively few birds or animals in the area, and it was surprisingly quiet in the jungle around the lodge. I had it pretty much to myself, which was a shame for the staff who were attentive and helpful. Abdullah, who has been at the Lodge since it was built, is absolutely charming.

Wonderful experience but, once again, you do need to be able bodied to walk the distances around the site, get in and out of the Land Rover etc. I didn\'t have a problem with it but Mbasha arranged for the Land Rover to collect us each day from the top of the site as Penny had difficulty with her replacement knee and the steep climb. Mbasha is intending to extend the existing track and make a car park near to restaurant etc but that my not be until next year. As there were only 2 of us at the lodge, we also had the pleasure of the manager, Mbasha, sitting with us at mealtimes so he was able to tell us a lot about Tanzania so that was very special and we learned a lot.

The staff, accommodation, surroundings and food were all superb. The view from our lodge was absolutely stunning. Our guide, Joseph, was incredible! He took us on game drives, a walking safari and a boat safari and never once rushed anything, making sure we saw and learnt as much as possible. He was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and above all it was obvious that he had a deep caring for the wildlife and the environment.

The \"banda\" was well appointed and the bathroom was the size of most people\'s bedroom! We did not have a chance to enjoy the pool but it did look inviting.

The tented banda accomodation was great, with a good view across the treetops to the mountains in the distance. The bathroom is very basic, but perfectly adequate, the large double bed very comfy. We had one evening visitor - a bat, but he was easily persuaded to go back outside. We loved the 'Landrover's Return' - the bar area made from the first landrover the camp used. The food was very good - though mostly quite European. We would have liked to perhaps try something different (though if you weren't careful the mantis landed on your plate!) All the trips were well organised, everything seemed to run like clockwork, until we had a tremendous thunderstorm just as we were to sit down to dinner. The staff were amazingly efficient at moving all the things off the dining table whilst the wind and rain howled through the verandah, then it was replaced as if nothing had happened within minutes of the storm abating. Brilliant. The picnic on the boat surrounded by crocodiles and hippos is quite an experience too.

Bandas and public areas linked by lengthy stone and sand walkways, so this is not suitable for those with walking difficulties. Days were spent game viewing, so did not spend much time in the camp, but did have time for a refreshing dip in the pool (covered) and enjoyed the lovely food which included a Maasai buffet one evening.
