Open: Rusinga Island Lodge is open all year.

Location: The lodge is on Rusinga Island in Lake Victoria. The lodge has its own airstrip, and is a 90 minute flight from Nairobi. The nearest airport is at Kisumu, from where it takes about 3 hours by car and boat, to reach the lodge.

Rooms: There are 10 guest cottages including 1 family cottage with 2 interconnecting bedrooms (a twin and a double). All rooms have either a double or 2 twin beds, seating, a dressing area and a bathroom with twin hand basins and a shower cubicle, and a veranda.

Activities: Take your pick from bird watching, cycling, walking, kayaking, boat trips on Lake Victoria, fishing and visiting local villages. There are archaeological sites on Rusinga Island you visit, and you can accompany a guide on a walk to Tom Mboya Memorial, commemorating the late political activist. Morning trips to Ruma National Park can be arranged.

Facilities: There is a swimming pool in the grounds. Staff at the spa provide massages, manicures and pedicures. The lodge is set in pretty grounds with lots of places to sit, and has a vegetable garden. The lodge has facilities for croquet, and a selection of board games.

Dining: Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in a variety of locations including the gardens, jetty and by the pool. Meals are eaten at individual tables.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome.

Health: This is a malarial area.

Communication: There is wifi internet access.

Eco: Rusinga Island Lodge supports a number of community projects including a school, women's groups, healthcare initiatives and tree planting.
