Ruckomechi Camp enjoys a wonderful setting, facing the fast flowing Zambezi River and the mountains of the Rift Valley escarpment in Zambia. It's a stunning area with far reaching views which you can see from all parts of the camp.

The ten spacious tents are set beneath mahogany, ana and acacia trees. Each large bedroom has clear gauze floor to ceiling windows to the front and side, allowing you to gaze out over the river from your bed. Canvas flaps provide protection from the elements if needed and curtains can be drawn for privacy. The bathroom has a burnished copper hand basin, walk-in shower and flush toilet and there's an additional outdoor shower. You'll have your own river-facing deck where you can rest between game drives. For the ultimate sleep out you can spend a night at the star bed positioned on a quiet private deck. Another special experience you should try while here is the 'bath with a view', a screened tub filled with hot water and bubble bath for a wonderfully indulgent soak as you watch elephants parading by the river.

The lounge, bar, library and dining areas face the escarpment, for panoramic vistas you'll never tire of admiring. There's a sun deck with loungers and hammocks, and a swimming pool for daytime relaxation, and a separate deck set over the river with a large comfy sofa encircling a fire, ideal for after dinner drinks and star gazing.

Activities at Ruckomechi make the most of the varied landscape and of course the river, there is plenty of choice. On offer are boating, walking, driving and even half-day canoe trips along the river.  It is worth noting that the walking and driving all take place within the concession and not in themain part of the park which is renowned for it's long pools (hence the name) and forests. Motorboats are not allowed in the park but as Ruckomechi is in a private concession it can offer trips in motor boats along their stretch of the Zambezi. Whatever activities you choose to do throughout your stay you can be assured of excellent guiding with qualified pro-Zim guides. You also have the chance to spend a night under the stars on the sleepout deck, weather permitting, at Parachute Pan.
