Ruckomechi Camp

Open: Ruckomechi is open from the beginning of April to mid-November each year.

Location: The lodge occupies it's own private reserve in the north eastern part of Mana Pools National Park. The nearest airstrip is Mana West, about a 20-minute drive away.

Rooms: There are 10 tents, made up of 8 with twin beds and a family unit consisting if 2 tents.  Each is spacious with it's own lounge area and en-suite bathroom with inside and outside shower, solar heated water and a supply of toiletries and bathrobes. A freestanding fan keeps the interior cool. There is a canvas bag and padlock for valuables, which are stored in a central safe. The private deck overlooks the river and the Zambezi escarpment over in Zambia. Maximum guest capacity is 20 adults plus 4 children. 

Activities: Ruckomechi offers game drives, night drives, guided walks, bird watching, motorboat trips, river cruises, canoe trips, catch and release fishing and star gazing. There is a sleep out deck at Parachute Pan for a night under the stars, offered subject to weather conditions. 

Facilities: The central thatched room has a dining area and bar and leads to an outdoor deck and lounge, all facing the river.  There’s a swimming pool and sunbathing deck. A laundry service is included.

Dining: Meals are eaten together either in the indoor dining area or alfresco. 

Children: Children aged 6 years and over are welcome. The minimum age for walking safaris is 13 years and for canoeing is 16. 

Health: This is a malarial area.

Communication: There is no Wi-Fi or mobile phone reception at Ruckomechi. The camp has a satellite phone for emergencies.
