Ronjo Camp

Serengeti National Park Tanzania

  • Set in pristine wilderness
  • Traditional tented accommodation
  • Good game viewing all year
  • Friendly staff
  • Relax in the shaded lounge

Open: Ronjo Camp is open all year.

Location: The camp is in the Banagi Valley in Serengeti National Park. The camp is unfenced and animals often pass through, especially at night. This is a mobile camp and moves to a new site about every 6 months, always staying within the Central Serengeti.

Rooms: There are 16 guest tents, arranged in a crescent shape to either side of the main tent that houses the bar and restaurant. There is a small dressing area off each bedroom, and an en-suite bathroom with 24-hour solar-heated water for the basin and shower, and some toiletries. Each tent has a shaded deck with views over the plains towards the Banagi Hills. Maasai guides escort guests between tents and the mess area after dark to ensure complete safety.

Activities: Game drives are the main activity, half day in the morning and late afternoon, and full day. There is good wildlife viewing year round and the migration passes through usually in May-June and again in November-December, adding excitement to the safari. Hot air balloon rides can be arranged.

Facilities: The restaurant and lounge-cum-bar form the social core of the camp, set under the shade of a canvas tent. There are 2 fire pits on the area to the front of the mess area where you can enjoy evening drinks, chats and star gazing. There are charging points in the mess tent.

Dining: Meals are eaten at communal tables in the mess tent. Wine is available to compliment dinner.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome.

Health: This is a malarial area.

Communication: There is no internet access.

Client Rating for Tanzania 5/5 from 217 reviews

This was really in the wilderness! You could hear the hyenas calling all round you during the night. Very comfortable tents. I was a bit concerned with this camp as I thought it might be a bit basic but it was very comfortable and was probably one of my favourite camps. Good fun sitting round the camp fire with a sundowner.
