This lovely tented camp is 17kms from Rohet, and is run by the owners of Rohetgarh. With just 7 guest tents the camp has an intimate feel. This rural setting at the edge of the Thar Desert is conducive to relaxation, as you watch shepherds tending their livestock, making it an ideal antidote to the hectic pace of life in the cities.
Tents are set on a raised earth mound surrounded by richly coloured bougainvillea. They have canvas walls and ceilings and teak floors covered with locally-made jute rugs, and are large enough to accommodate sitting and dressing areas, hanging space for clothes and a writing desk. Each has an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water. They are equipped with fans, and hot water bottles can be provided on cool nights. There's a covered sitting area to the front of each tent for quiet reflection.
The central sitting room has a high thatched roof and plaster walls, corner sofas, a lovely open fire and is decorated in muted cream tones. The dining area is similarly styled and great care is taken dressing the tables for meals. On some evenings there are open air performances of folk music, and on others you can simply sit and gaze at the stars.
While here you can accompany a local guide for a walk round a local village to experience life in rural Rajasthan, visiting the market and spending time in different homes. The fine Marwari horses of Rohet are available to experienced riders, and others can take camel carts to secluded spots for a picnic.
