Riverdene Lodge offers luxury accommodation in a graciously restored former frontier homestead in the 20,000 hectare Shamwari Game Reserve. The lodge welcomes children of all ages so this is a good choice for families who want to enjoy a safari in this malaria-free reserve.

Accommodation is a nine air conditioned suites, all of which can sleep up to 2 adults and 1 child, with some interconnecting rooms. Each suite a TV, telephone, Wi-Fi, tea and coffee making facilities, charging points, minibar and ensuite bathroom. All have a private terrace.

The main lodge facilities include indoor and outdoor dining areas, a boma with a campfire, and a lounge-bar. The outdoor infinity pool has a shallow area for children, and there is a supervised adventure centre and jungle gym for youngsters. The gift shop stocks a range of locally made items that make good souvenirs, and spa treatments are available at Long Lee Manor nearby.

There are ample game viewing opportunities in the private reserve. Game drives take place in the morning and evening, in special open vehicles with your own experienced ranger. Guided game walks are also offered, and you can visit one of the Born Free Cat Sanctuaries and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. There are special 'kids on safari' activities for children.
