Open: Riad Les Yeux Bleus is open all year.
Location: The riad is on Derb El Ferrane, inside the medina a short way from Bab Dokklala. It is about a 10 minute walk to the Djemmaa el Fna (main square). The airport is a 15-minute drive away, and cars can get within a couple of hundred feet of the riad’s entrance, the last part of the journey being on foot.
Rooms: There are 8 rooms in total, arranged around 2 courtyards. The first, larger courtyard, has 2 rooms on the ground floor and 3 on the 1st floor, and the smaller courtyard has 1 room on the ground floor and 2 on the 1st floor. All are similar in size and layout, but are painted in different colour schemes and have different floors (tiles, wood, leather). All have double beds, some of which can be configured as twins, an armchair, walk-in bathroom with a large shower, hand basin and flush toilet. Some have bathtubs. Bathrooms are styled in Moroccan fashion with tadelakt and zellige tiles. There is 24 hour hot and cold water. All rooms are air conditioned and have shutters over the windows and fastenable full length wooden doors.
Activities: Explore Marrakech medina with its alleys, souks, shops, cafes and restaurants. Spend time in the Djemma el Fna. Visit the museums, mosques, palaces and gardens. Majorelle Gardens is just a 15 minute walk or short caleche or taxi ride away. Staff are happy to suggest places of interest and arrange excursions to places outside the city.
Facilities: There is an pool in the larger courtyard (unheated), and several chairs by the pool, as well as a library with a stock of books. The smaller courtyard has a cosy lounge with a fire that is lit on cooler days. It is open to the sky, but shaded by a large canvas cover. There are lots of alcoves and private sitting areas. There are pot plants including bamboo and shrubs in the courtyards which attract many birds. The roof terrace (2nd floor) has several sun loungers, a plunge pool and fountain, plus 2 covered areas which are used for dining and relaxing. The hammam and massage room are up here, too. At night the riad is lit by wall lights with pretty carved covers and lanterns. Reception is staffed 24 hours a day.
Dining: Breakfast is included in the nightly rate and is served on the terrace beneath the shade of canvas roof. Lunch and dinner are available on request and are based on tasty Moroccan cuisine. These meals are usually served on the terrace, too, with dinner by candlelight. Tea and coffee are available during the day and the riad also serves alcohol (beer and wine).
Children: Children of all ages are welcome. Cots are available on request for those under 2 years. For those over 2 an extra bed is available on request for an extra charge.
Health: Marrakech is not a malarial area.
Communication: There is free Wi-Fi internet access in all areas.
