Open: Remota Patagonia lodge is open from September to May each year.
Location: The hotel overlooks Last Hope Sound inlet and is about 1.5kms from the town of Puerto Natales. The nearest airport is at Punta Arenas, 250kms and a 2.5-hour drive away. It is in grounds of 5 hectares.
Rooms: There are 72 guest rooms, each with 33sqm of space. 36 have king-size beds and the other 36 have 2 queen size beds. All have large windows with views of mountains, fjords and glaciers, and an en-suite bathroom with a bath, rain shower, some toiletries and a window. Every room has a heater, Wi-Fi, safe, hairdryer and wake-up service. Some rooms are decorated in predominately pale colours and others have dark floors and beams, reflecting the white and black sheep in local flocks.
Activities: Professional guides lead a variety of excursions in Torres del Paine National Park and the surrounding area. You can explore by van, bike, boat, on foot and horseback. Fly fishing is a speciality. Excursions have a maximum of 8 guests. There are 2 different grades of activities: the soft programme and the adventure programme, the latter requiring greater physical exertion such as rock climbing, more strenuous hikes and bike rides.
Facilities: The hotel has 2 lounges 1 of which has a TV, a 15-metre indoor swimming pool, 2 outdoor jacuzzis, 2 large saunas, a massage room, bar, restaurant and gift shop.
Dining: Breakfast is served as a buffet with sweet and savoury dishes and eggs cooked to order. Lunch is a light meal or a picnic if you are on an all-day excursion, and dinner is a 3-course meal supplemented with Chilean wine.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome. Each room can take an extra bed for a child under 12 years if needed. Children under the age of 4 years cannot take part in activities.
Health: No particular health issues to be aware of here.
Communication: There is Wi-Fi internet access in rooms and public areas.
Notes: There is a minimum stay requirement of 3 nights between 20th December and 5th January. There is no minimum stay requirement at other times of the year. The hotel offers different tariffs: the soft programme, the adventure programme and the fly fishing programme, each including a choice of daily activities from a set list. Alternatively, the hotel can be booked on a bed and breakfast basis, and you will need to arrange and pay for any excursions locally but will not be able to join those operated by the hotel.
