Ramathra Fort

India

Open:  Ramathra Fort is open all year, though the tents are closed in the off season, July to September.

Location:  Ramathra Fort is in rural Rajasthan near the village of Sapotra. The closest airport is Jaipur about 160kms away.

The two luxury suites are on the first floor and have private sun terraces with loungers. They have outdoor baths and a rain shower. The four deluxe suites are on the ground floor and have private access to a shared courtyard. Two of the suites are connecting rooms, so make good family accommodation. The tents are set against the fort walls. They are spacious and have teak furniture. Each has a bedroom, sitting room and an attached bathroom with a shower, flush toilet and a dressing area. They have porches for outdoor relaxation.

Activities:  Various activities are included in your stay. These include a guided walking trail of Ramathra village which takes about 3 hours, you can go bird watching by Kalisil Lake. Boat trips on the lake are available year round. Day trips can include a picnic and you can go out in the late afternoon and watch the sunset.  For an additional charge to be paid locally the hotel can arrange drives into the surrounding countryside, night drives in the buffer zone of Kailadevi National Park, and camel cart rides to the village or lake. You can also hire a bike for some independent exploring. Massages and cookery demonstrations can be arranged on request, to be paid for locally.

Facilities:   There are indoor and outdoor communal areas. The dining room was once the fort’s stable block and has been converted to form an attractive room. Meals are also served outside in the tented patio area. Most meals are served buffet style, giving you plenty of dishes to choose from.  The fort has a bar offering a wide range of drinks. There are various terraces and lawns with chairs and tables where you can sit, soak up some sun and survey the surrounding countryside, village and lake. There’s an indoor lounge. The hotel has a jacuzzi at the top of one of the turrets. There is a massage room.

Client Rating for India 5/5 from 130 reviews

Beautiful surroundings and felt like we were definitely off the beaten track. The first night we were there we were up-graded to the most wonderful suite, had a massage outside on the bed on a top rampart. Udit and the rest of his family could not have been more welcoming and took us a lovely wilderness tour. The food was cooked by locals although rather simple was delicious. The wild rose soap in the bathroom smells out of this world.
