Princesse de Lagon is a small hotel on the seashore at Mangily village, near Ifaty. It opened in 2013 and is owned by a French man who lives in Madagascar. The open-fronted restaurant and bar overlook the beach and ocean where you'll see local fishing vessels and, in season, whales. There are shaded day beds and sofas, too, where you while away lazy moments, enjoying the views. Each evening the firepit becomes the social focus in the evening, as guests gather for pre-dinner drinks. The hotel has occasional live music and beach barbecues.
With just seven en-suite rooms there is a homely and intimate atmosphere. Rooms are decorated in shades of white, making them calm and restful areas. Three of these are on the ground floor, three more on the first floor, with the largest of the rooms on the top floor. All have private verandas with sea views. Fans and sea breezes, keep the rooms cool.
There is a small spa offering beauty treatments, therapies and massages. Yoga classes can be arranged and there's a gym for those with energy to burn. There are sunbeds and parasols on the beach and a plunge pool where you can cool off. Snorkelling, diving and fishing are popular past-times while on land you can visit the local village, forest, Doumergue reserve and go horse riding.
