Open: Posada Amazonas is open all year.

Location: Posada Amazonas is in the Amazon rainforest. The journey from the airport in Puerto Maldonado takes about 2 hours and includes a 45-minute boat ride. The lodge is in the Ese-Eja communal reserve next to the Tambopata National Reserve.

Rooms: There are 30 rooms, made up of superior and comfort rooms and suites, arranged in 5 wings of 6 rooms each, connected by raised boardwalks. All rooms have beds with mosquito nets, an open wall facing the rainforest, bedside tables, hanging space for clothes, a safe, limited electricity for lighting and en-suite bathrooms with hot water and toiletries. They are built from wood, bamboo, mud and palm. There are 12 superior rooms, twins, doubles and triples, and 16 comfort rooms each with 2 double beds. These rooms are 42sqm. The 2 suites are larger at 62sqm, and each has a terrace with a minibar, and a ceilin fan in the bedroom. Guests staying in comfort rooms and suites are given slippers and an umbrella.

Activities: Bird watching from the canopy tower and at the parrot clay lick, boat trips on the lake and mountain biking. Night walks are offered to view nocturnal animals and birds. You can follow an ethnobotanical trail to learn about the medicinal uses of selected plants, visit a local Ese-Eja community and a working farm. Guided activities are usually in groups of about 10 people. In May 2019 Posada Amazonas introduced the a la carte option. Guest booking this have access to the full range of over 20 activities at no extra charge. These range from spending a day with the Ese-Eja community to wildlife viewing and rainforest walks. During downtime at the lodge you can enjoy a massage at the wellness centre, take a walk to the river or relax in a hammock.

Facilities: The lodge provides breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meals combine Peruvian and international dishes. There is a bar. You can socialise with fellow guests in the lounge. There is a relaxation area with hammocks. Unlimited tea, coffee and drinking water is available during the day. There is a 30-metre canopy tower with great views over the forest and Tambopata River just 20 minutes walk from the lodge. The lodge has a wellness centre offering massages and aromatherapy. The lodge has a generator to provide electricity with lighting available till 10pm, but it is very dark at night and you should bring a torch. Posada Amazonas is owned by the indigenous Ese-Eja community.

Dining: Meals, served buffet style, are eaten at individual tables.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome, but there will be age limits on certain activities.

Health: This is a malarial area.

Communication: There is limited Wi-Fi internet access in public areas and in comfort rooms and suites.
