Just an excellent, lovely place with extremely helpful and friendly people. The beach is lovely, too. Too bad, that nearby at the fishing village the beach is terrible, full of plastic and debris. It's sad to see the absolute ignorance to environmental matters. That has of course nothing to do with our lovely place, it's just saddening.

Again, just what we needed, lovely staff, excellent food & what a view out over the Indian Ocean. We did become lazy, & quickly gave up any idea of seeing more of Zanzibar. A truly delightful hotel.

Pongwe beach is idyllic! Immaculately kept with gorgeous white sands, plenty of shade, good sun beds & a clean pool. The staff appeared out of nowhere to offer drinks, a smile and Swahili lesson! They couldn’t have been more charming! We loved the bushbabies and forgave them for waking us every night with their raucous cackling. The restaurant was good - although we would have welcomed more Zanzibari options.

I think Pongwe represented good value for money. Neither it nor Unguja are 5 star resorts but Pongwe did everything we could reasonably expect - and did it well. The sea view suite was worth presumably the extra cost. Excellent staff.

Great lodges set back from the beach. Quality rooms. Fantastic dawn views. Cheerful helpful staff, good food. Great place to stay . Beach and kayaking was fun.

I can fault nothing at this hotel. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Hope the owners contract their chef again as the food he and his team produced was excellent. Accommodation struch exactly the right note between authentic and luxury.
