Location: On the outskirts of Karatu village on the lower outer slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater. It is about a three hour drive from Arusha and less than one hour to the crater.
Rooms: There are standard rooms, six suites, a family unit, family suite and the garden house with four bedrooms.
Activities: Many people use Plantation Lodge as a base from which to visit the Ngorongoro Crater, but it also makes a good place to relax. Birdwatching is good around camp, there is a pool, spa treatments can be arranged for you, and if you fancy a visit to a local farm or coffee plantation, this too can be arranged.
Facilities: The lodge is set in large landscaped gardens which houses a beautiful restaurant overlooking the rolling hills. There is a cosy bar and an extensive wine cellar. Set in the gardens is a large pool with loungers.
Dining: Meals are served in the dining room or in the courtyard. The meals are excellent, and mostly made with local produce - some from the farm itself.
Children: The lodge welcomes children of all ages.
Health: This is a malarial area.
Communication: There is a mobile reception, no direct ‘phone or fax and complimentary Wifi.
