Plantation Lodge is surrounded by coffee plantations and the famous green hills of Africa that Hemingway found so inspiring. Its romantic setting and high standards of accommodation, food and service make it a very popular spot.

This small hotel has a choice of room styles, from standard rooms to more opulent suites and family suites. The accommodation is divided into different self-contained houses, so the place has a private feel and, if you want you can be totally independent with your own dining room and sitting room with bookshelves and a fireplace as well of plenty of outside sitting space on the verandas. There's even a little hatch in the wall of the rooms so that drinks can be delivered without disturbing the guests in their bedrooms.

There is also the garden house, with four double suites, all en suite and a large dining room. This is ideal for a family or large group. Every room has its own style. African safari-antiques and Tanzanian arts and crafts dominate the room, without neglecting modern European comfort.

Food and service are of a high standard, with much of the produce grown in the 45-acre grounds.

There is a swimming pool with stunning views of the valleys, set in the extensive, park-like gardens. Guests can walk beneath the avocado and eucalyptus trees and listen to the voices of over 40 different kinds of domestic birds.
