Open: Phinda Rock Lodge is open all year.
Location: The lodge is on a cliff-side in Phinda Private Game Reserve in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
Rooms: There are 6 suites with accommodation for a maximum of 12 guests at any one time. They have large bedrooms and bathrooms, with a shower and bath, an outdoor viewing deck with daybed, table and chairs and a plunge pool. 3 of the suites also have outdoor showers. All suites have a supply of drinks. They are located at varying distances from the main lodge building. The plunge pools sometimes attract birds and wildlife, which most guests consider a bonus for some up-close viewing!
Activities: Explore Phinda Private Game Reserve on game drives by day and night, take a boat cruise, and set out on foot for a walking safari. Other activities include rhino tracking and spending time at a local Zulu village. There is a fully equipped 4x4 vehicle for photographic safaris, subject to availability. The lodge offers excursions to the coast, where you can swim with whale sharks, go scuba diving and take whale watching trips (seasonal).
Facilities: The main lodge has a large dining room on one side and a lounge on the other. Both rooms are inviting and roaring fires keep them warm on cool nights. The viewing deck is used for relaxing and al fresco refreshments. There’s a lovely boma in a clearing surrounded by trees. This is often used for sundowners and lantern-lit dinners.
Dining: Meals are eaten together in the dining room, with some dinners served in the boma. Breakfast is often eaten on the deck outside the dining room. Private meals can be served on your own deck.
Children: Children aged 12 years and older are welcome. The lodge unfenced so children need to be kept under supervision at all times.
Health: This is a low risk malarial area.
Communication: There is Wi-Fi internet access.
