Open: The Palace on Wheels operates from September to April each year. It is a 7 night/8 day journey.
Location: The Palace on Wheels travels through northern India, starting and ending in Delhi, taking in such destinations as Jaipur, Ranthambore National Park, Chittogarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bharatpur and Agra.
Rooms: There are 14 fully air-conditioned deluxe coaches each with a 4 twin-bedded chambers. Each bedroom has an attached toilet and shower with hot and cold running water and a range of toiletries. Music is available and each room has an intercom. Single and triple rooms are also available. There is 24-hour room service. Each coach has a lounge and mini pantry stocked with hot and cold drinks and refreshments.
Activities: Sightseeing at the stops en-route, wildlife viewing in Ranthambore, birdwatching in Bharatpur, shopping.
Facilities: There are 2 restaurants, The Maharaja and The Maharani, serving continental, Chinese, Indian and Rajasthani dishes prepared by chefs in the adjacent pantry. There is a well-stocked bar offering spirits, Indian and international brands as well as snacks. Each coach has personal attendants (Khidmatgars) to look after the passengers. There is a lounge where passengers can relax and chat, read or enjoy a selection of indoor games such as cards, chess and crosswords. There is a rejuvenation car with a spa and expert therapists.
Dining: Meals are taken at tables for 2 or 4 people.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome.
Health: We recommend malaria prophylactics for travel to India.
Communication: There is internet access on board the train.
