Tribes Style: Ultimate
Le Saint Geran is a world famous hotel, known for its location, superb facilities and first class service. First opened in 1975 so one of the longest established, the hotel underwent an extensive refit in 1999 and is once again one of the finest hotels on the island.
Set in 60 acres of tropical gardens, Le Saint Geran is on the Belle Mare Peninsular, with the Indian Ocean to one side and a sheltered lagoon on the other. There are almost 2kms of unspoilt beach and pristine sand.
Guest accommodation is in suites, with panoramic windows and private terraces or balconies with views of either the ocean or the lagoon. The en-suite bathrooms are spacious and well-planned, with bathtub and walk-in shower and separate toilet. Each suite also has a dressing room. Additional facilities include minibar, safe, air conditioning, TV, CD/DVD player, internet access, phone and coffee making facilities. Each suite has its own door opening onto the gardens.
There is no shortage of things to do, with water sports being one of the most popular activities. There are 3 pools, the main pool, a children's pool and an 18-metre lap pool in the spa. As well as swimming, guests can go snorkelling, kayaking, dinghy sailing, water-skiing and windsurfing. Cruises in the glass bottom boat are popular. Other activities include nature walks, yoga, beach volleyball, tennis, cycling and golf - the hotel has its own Gary Player 9-hole course. Diving, parasailing, catamaran cruises and horse riding are available at an extra charge.
Dining is a highlight. The buffet style breakfast is served in 'La Terrace' restaurant and consists of eggs, freshly baked bread, pastries, local cheeses as well as fresh fruit. Lunch can be taken at 'Rasoi by Vincent', where wraps, sandwiches, salads, grills and Indian-style mezze dishes are served. This Indian themed restaurant serves a selection of Indian inspired dishes in the evening. 'Spoon des Iles' is a gourmet restaurant, by Michelin- star chef Alain Ducasse, and specialises in multi-ethnic cuisines and fine wines. There is also a choice of bars, including a poolside bar and a beach bar which is open during the day. The Kids Only club will look after the children with a series of supervised activities. The hotel can arrange excursions to other parts of the island, to nature reserves and hiking trails and to the capital, Port Louis, with its bustling market and popular waterfront area.
Le Saint Geran has an internationally acclaimed spa, with 8 treatment rooms, a separate Garden Spa Pavillion and Beauty Centre. The spa is set in the hotel's lush tropical gardens and offers holistic treatments and fitness programmes. There is a full range of massage therapies and specialist advisers are available to guide guests.
Massages can relax, restore and elevate and can be combined with other therapies such as scrubs and wraps to make a complete treatment programme. Swedish, sports and hot stone are offered, as is reflexology. As well as scrubs and wraps, the spa offers sun treatments to prepare skin for the sun or re-hydrate it after sunbathing and relaxing, warming baths. The spa also has a lap pool, hydro-jet and a sauna
The Spa Pavillion is reached via a walkway through the gardens. It is suspended over running water. In this secluded setting, listening to the sounds of nature, guests can enjoy therapeutic treatments.
The beauty salon specialises in hairdressing, chiropody and pedicure - pure pampering!
Yoga classes are available in groups or individual session. This is an ideal way to stretch the body and ease the mind, tone muscles and induce relaxation. Le Saint Geran offers various fitness packages and personal training, including aqua fitness, circuit training and boxing sessions.
