Open: Nkwichi Lodge is open all year.

Location: Nkwichi Lodge is on the shores of Lake Malawi (also known as Lake Niassa), the 9th largest lake in the world. Most people fly into Likoma Island, a short boat ride from the lodge.

Rooms: There are 6 chalets and 2 houses for guests. The chalets are discretely positioned amongst the trees. They are all spacious and unique in design, but have the same facilities which include a 4-poster bed, en-suite bathroom with bath and shower and a thatched veranda with armchairs and hammocks. The houses offer seclusion and very spacious accommodation. You will have your own chef and are just a short walk from the facilities of the main lodge. They are ideal for families or groups travelling together.

Activities: Lake activities include swimming, snorkelling, sailing on the lodge’s private dhow, Miss Nkwichi, and canoeing. All these activities are weather dependant and from June to September there can be high winds and rough seas. On land you can take guided walks around the lake, go bird watching and visit Likoma Island with its historic cathedral. Safaris can be arranged to Manda Wilderness Reserve whose wildlife includes sable, elephant, reedbuck, leopard and over 300 species of birds.

Facilities: The main area of the lodge is a two storey structure overlooking the lake, with a seating area, library and gift shop downstairs and a bar and dining room upstairs. There is also a lakeside deck for al fresco dining and with comfy chairs and hammocks for gentle relaxation. There is an additional sitting area by the beach. The lodge has a star bed, 'Lake of Stars', which is set up either on a private rock or a deserted beach, for those wanting to experience the magic of a night spend out under the wide African skies.

Dining: Meals are taken at individual tables at various venues.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome.

Health: This is a malarial area.

Communication: There is no internet access.
