This small, unassuming lodge is a short stroll from Playa Chiquita and 6kms from Puerto Viejo on the southern Caribbean coast. It consists of a collection of traditionally styled chalets of varying sizes set in leafy gardens, with a pool, restaurant, bar and spa on site.
The chalets are attractive wooden structures, typical of dwellings in the Caribbean region. The style is simple and charming: wooden floors, beamed walls and ceilings, mosquito net draped beds and attractive soft furnishings. All have an en-suite shower room and a private terrace with seating and a hammock. There are large chalets sleeping up to four people, family rooms and some suites with larger terraces with sofas and jacuzzi, All have views of the gardens.
There is a small restaurant on site, with doors opening on to the pool area. The swimming pool is surrounded by a deck with sun loungers, and there's a poolside bar where you can enjoy a chilled drink. There is a covered chill-out lounge where you can help yourself to hot drinks and water, out of the heat of the sun, and an outdoor sitting area beneath a thatched roof. The spa offers a choice of therapies.
You have a wide range of activities, both water and land-based, to keep you busy. Staff can arrange a full day snorkelling excursion in Cahuita National Park showcasing tropical fish, turtles and corals, guided hiking and wildlife watching trips in the national park, horse riding and a visit to the Kekoldi Indigenous Reserve to learn about local plant and wildlife and Bribri culture. Playa Chiquita is just a short walk from the lodge and is a good place to relax and soak up some sun.
