Moremi Crossing

Okavango Delta Botswana

Apparently this year has been a slow one for the lodge - there were only four of us there the first night and 6 the following evening - but this enabled you to get to know your fellow travellers better. Again located with good view across river and beyond. The service was very good and it was nice to have the guide join us at mealtimes.

We preferred smaller camps but staff here were again very welcoming. Game walks were an excellent complement to the drives at Sango.

Very well run. Walking and mkoro safaris provided very up close and personal experiences! You are really at one with the wild! No sounds other than the animals around you! It was great to watch the guides as they tracked animals and took us through the bush. Excellent information and a real sense of being in the world of the animals!

Guides were excellent and we felt well looked after. The food was very good and the wine. Highlight was an elephant in the camp which the guides had to drive away so we could walk to our tent. The negative part was us not really being able to cope sitting in a Mokoro, however Amos our guide appreciated our back issues sitting in a Mokoro and we had the next 2 tours in the motor boat.

I liked the fact that the animals came in to the grounds at night you had to be careful after dinner

This was our last stop, and the most disappointing. Perhaps after the other 2 intimate camps, this felt a bit too big, without enough staff or perhaps funds, to keep it well maintained. The tents were quite dirty, especially the adjoining room for our 2 teenage children, perhaps it hadn't been used in a while,so there were layers of dust and piles of dead moths in corners and under beds. No mosquito nets either, the only camp without them, which was disconcerting considering we were right on the delta front. On the plus side, our guide Action was fantastic, we saw great wildflife. and although they couldnt offer boat safaris due to the low water levels, we felt we saw much more on the game drives they offered. The manager and Tiny, did their best, but perhaps dont have the staff or resources to keep the place clean. It just didnt have the happy welcoming feel of Sango Camp, so perhaps a hard act to follow.
