Open: Mfangano Island Camp is open from the beginning of June to the end of March.

Location: The lodge is the west coast of Mfangano Island in Lake Victoria. It has its own airstrip, a short boat ride away.

Rooms: There are nine cottages, all with four-poster beds and an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water, a bath, shower, hand basin and flush toilet. Toiletries are provided. All rooms have private lake-facing verandas with sun loungers. The honeymoon suite has a sunken bath and panoramic lake views from the bedroom. Room service is available on request.

Activities: You can go sailing, take a trip to Bird Island, go fishing, walk to a local Luo village, explore by mountain bike, and visit Mwanga Cave and Kwitone shelter to view ancient rock art.

Facilities: There is an open-sided lounge-cum-dining area and options for private dining on the jetty and by the lake shore. The camp has a massage room and a swimming pool near the edge of the lake. The camp is in pretty, bird-filled gardens. Bicycles are available for exploring the local area. There is a free laundry service.

Dining: Meals make use of fresh fish and fruit and vegetables from the camp's garden. Breakfast and lunch are often served outside in the gardens, with dinner eaten in the dining room.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome.

Health: This is a malarial area.

Communication: There is limited mobile phone coverage, and wifi internet access in the bar.

Eco: Mfangano Island Camp is committed to the local community and raises funds for a local schools and a clinic, and is instructing local people in perma-culture, as practised on its own land, to help them farm the land is a sustainable fashion.
