Mawamba Lodge

Open: Mawamba Lodge is open all year.

Location: The lodge is located in Tortuguero, just minutes from the beach and 10-minutes walk from town. It is only accessible by boat and air.

Rooms: There are 58 standard rooms and 4 larger deluxe rooms. The standard rooms have either a king size bed or a queen size and a single bed, suitable for families or couples. The rooms are spacious and furnished with cane furniture. There are wooden floors and wood-panelled walls, adorned with colourful pictures. The bathroom has hot running water and a shower. Each room has a veranda with a seating area looking out onto the gardens. The deluxe rooms are larger with an indoor seating area in addition to the veranda area and also the addition of a bath in the en-suite.

Activities Take motor boat rides, go kayaking and enjoy guided nature walks in Tortuguero National Park whilst looking out for monkeys, lizards, otters, turtles, caiman and birds, follow the nature trail in the lodge's grounds. From July to October you may see nesting green turtles, with evening walking tours to watch them on the beach. Enjoy a unique dining experience on the Katonga floating restaurant.

Facilities: There is a restaurant and cafeteria where you can enjoy means, and a bar serving up refreshing ice-cold drinks. There is a swimming pool with a Jacuzzi and an indoor lounge area where you can relax and mingle with fellow guests, all surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens, a mere stone's throw from the beach.

Dining: Wholesome meals are served buffet style and enjoyed at individual tables.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome.

Health: Other than the province of Limon, Costa Rica has low to no risk of malaria.

Communication: There is free WiFi access in the main areas of the lodge, but this does not stretch to the accommodation.
