Open: Mashpi Lodge is open all year.

Location: Mashpi Lodge is in the Mashpi Reserve, which covers over 3,000 acres and is 3,000 feet above sea level. This is a remote area and the drive from Quito takes about 3 hours by road and forest track.

Rooms: There are 19 Wayra Rooms and 3 Yaku Suites, accommodating up to 44 people in total. All have floor-to-ceiling windows, individual climate control, wardrobes, chairs and a desk and en-suite bathrooms. Bathrobes and slippers are provided free of charge for your stay. There are 3 pairs of interconnecting rooms, useful for families or groups of friends. Suites are slightly larger than the rooms and have stunning views from the bathroom as well as the bedroom.

Activities: There are many ways to explore the cloudforest. The dragonfly cable car operates along a 2km cable below and through the canopy and takes around 40 minutes. It can be combined with walking trails for a comprehensive cloudforest excursion. The skybike is another way to get a bird's eye view. The bike is designed for 2 people, 1 pedalling and the other sitting back and enjoying the views! There's a 26-metre observation tower for canopy views. There are more conventional forest trails, some ending at waterfalls where you can have a refreshing swim. You can watch hummingbirds in a specially designed garden and see various species of birds at the many leks. The Life Centre has lots of information about the environment and its wildlife. This is also a good place to sit and enjoy the fine views or lie back in a hammock and relax. Night walks show you nocturnal species and let you hear the wonderful sounds of the night creatures.

Facilities: There are lots of seating areas including secluded nooks and crannies as well as more open spaces. Outside there are two terraces where you can mix with other guests. The lodge has a reading and learning area stocked with reference books. The dining room is a two-storey structure with massive window looking out over the cloudforest. Meals are based on Ecuadorian cuisine and make use of a wide range of local ingredients. Breakfast is a generous buffet including cooked eggs, lunches are light and feature sandwiches, salads, soups and tempting desserts. Dinner is a feast of seasonal produce accompanied by a wine of your choice. There is a well-stocked bar next to the dining area. The shop sells books, guidebooks, clothes and local handicrafts. The spa offers massage and other therapeutic treatments and has a jacuzzi.

Dining: Meals are taken at individual tables.

Children: Children are welcome, please check with us for details. Some activities have minimum age limits (eg the sky bike is available to those 8 years plus, accompanied by an adult.

Health: Mashpi Lodge is not in a malarial area.

Communication: There is Wi-Fi internet access throughout the lodge.
