Mashatu sits within the Northern Tuli Game Reserve in the remote eastern corner of Botswana bordering South Africa, where the Limpopo and Shashe rivers meet. The diverse range of habitats in this area includes savannah, riverine forests, marshlands, open plains and sandstone outcrops. Resident wildlife includes huge herds of elephants, lions, giraffes, eland, cheetah amongst many others and over 350 species of birds.

Game viewing is by traditional open 4x4 vehicles in the early morning and late afternoon. There are special photographic hides by a waterhole where you can sit and watch as elephant, impala, lion and a variety of birds come to drink, and take your time to capture some superb images. Additional activities offered include walking safaris, horseback riding (for experienced riders) and mountain bike trips. The scenery is stunning and there are many historical and archaeological sites in the area too, most notably the Motloutse Ruins and the Pitsani Koppie sites.

Main Camp has 14 luxury suites all air-conditioned and with a sitting area, private terrace and large, en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower. There are interconnecting suites which make excellent family accommodation.

At the heart of the camp is the large lounge and bar, overlooking the bushlands and waterhole. There is an outdoor infinity pool and a palm enclosed boma for al fresco dining. The discovery room has a collection of exhibits and staff are on hand to provide information about the animals and history and the research projects of Mashatu. The gift shop sells a range of locally made handicrafts, clothes and jewellery, which make good souvenirs of your stay.
