Open: The Maharajas’ Express runs all year.

Location: The Maharajas’ Express operates from Delhi and Mumbai offering four different itineraries.

Rooms: There are 43 cabins and suites accommodating up to 88 passengers. There are four accommodation categories: deluxe cabin, junior suite, suite and presidential suite. All have an IDD phone, TV, DVD player, electronic safe, wardrobe and en-suite bathroom with a shower, hand basin, toilet, hot and cold running water, toiletries and hairdryer. All cabins are air conditioned. Slippers and dressing gowns are provided. Each carriage has an attendant. There are 20 deluxe cabins (12 twins and eight doubles) of 10sqm in five carriages. There are 18 junior suites (12 twins and six doubles) in six carriages with similar facilities to the deluxe cabins and each occupying 14sqm. There are two carriages of suites each with two suites of 20sqm. Suites have a bedroom, lounge with picture windows and bathroom with both a shower and a bath. The presidential suite provides 41sqm of space and has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living area, minibar and its own valet providing round the clock service. All carriages are named after precious and semi-precious stones. 

Activities: The journey includes guided excursions in a number of locations, usually one or two a day. There are four itineraries, three lasting seven days and one of four days.

Facilities: The train has a lounge bar, two dining cars (more details below) and two bars, the rajah club and the safari bar. Books and board games are provided to help you pass the time.

Dining: The Peacock Restaurant (Mayur Mahal) and Haveli Restaurant (Rang Mahal) between them serve Indian and international dishes. Soft drinks and wines are available to accompany meals. Breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner are served on board, with occasional meals included in off-train excursions.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome.

Health: We recommend malaria prophylactics for travel to India.

Communication: There is Wi-Fi internet access.

Notes: All meals, house wines, spirits and beers are included, as are guided sightseeing trips with appropriate entrance fees, valet service and the services of a tour director.
