Luna Salada is unique in that it is built from blocks of salt mined in this area, so you can definitely say they have made good use of local materials.  Even the floors, furnishings and bed heads and frames are carved from salt. The hotel sits on the banks of the Salar de Uyuni, with spectacular views out over the white, never-ending salt plains.

There are 23 rooms with a choice of singles, doubles, triples and even a family suite. Each room is simply and elegantly furnished, promising a comfortable stay complete with heating and hot water bottles for those chilly months. The en-suite bathrooms have hot running water. Colourful rugs and throws throughout bring the pale complexion of the hotel to life, adding a bright splash of colour and warmth.

There light and airy restaurant serves simple and delicious food for you to enjoy together with fantastic views over the salt plains. There is also a bar area where the seating and tables are made of.... you guessed it.... salt, with comfy cushions and more bright colours. Pieces of artisanal furniture coupled with cosy glowing fireplaces, retain a wonderfully authentic Bolivian feel to the hotel.  

A stay here basically means you embrace the area and its salt!  You eat at salt tables, sit on salt benches, sleep on salt beds, walk on salt floors - but it's up to you if you want to add salt to your food!
