Why stay anywhere else in Quito? We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this boutique hotel, so much more interesting than a big chain hotel. Staff were attentive and helpful. Top marks.

Staff could have been a bit more personable given how small/"boutique" it was. At times they seemed to be going through the motions. Also would be good to have a clear steer about the safety of walking out at night in that area to find a restaurant. The guide suggested it wasn't safe if we went beyond a fairly confined area so we ate in the hotel both nights.

This is a lovely hotel in a beautiful building tucked away behind large wooden doors in the interesting old part of Quito. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and the lounge area and bedrooms very comfortable. I would recommend ear plugs though as there is quite a lot of coming and going in the early hours with people being collected to go to the airport and the patio reception area acts like an amphitheatre! The restaurant is rather unatmospheric for dinner but the breakfasts are excellent with lots of choice and delicious fresh fruit. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area.

More English than an English hotel, particularly in the clientele !! we were there during carnival and got covered in crazy foam whenever we put a foot out of the door. Be sure to recommend quiet rooms with OUTSIDE windows facing away from the street. Excellent restaurant next door.

Had lots of character and location was excellent. Being an old hotel it was rather noisy from other travellers getting up early and street noise.

Very surprised that we were advised by both the hotel and the local guide not to venture out after dark as it was dangerous to do so. We were disappointed by this as we do enjoy eating out at local bars & restaurants when we visit a place. Maybe a hotel in a safer location would be better.

Small hotel in old Quito. Very comfortable, quiet but quaintly shaped room at rear of hotel. However, street has tendency to be fairly noisy at weekends which might effect rooms at the front. Friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast only meals taken but totally satisfactory. Location excellent for old city.

Wonderful comfortable hotel, well positioned in the old quarter. We had been feeling tired after the Peru portion of our holiday but the atmosphere of the hotel and the excellent staff made us, almost instantly, relax. The best hotel of the trip. They also offered box breakfasts at no extra costs for early risers.

The accommodation was spacious and comfortable, the food good and the staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated in an exciting part of historic Quito, very near the excellent museum. It is convenient for city birding and has great views from the upstairs lounge.

A good boutique hotel - only downside was that it is on quite a busy road (at least on Saturday nights). Our first night on arriving in Ecuador was a Saturday night at this hotel, therefore a bit of street noise made it hard to sleep.

Beautiful hotel with wonderful big beds. We loved all the plants and the cosy ambience in the lounge where you could sit and chat with other travellers about their experiences. A really nice touch was the afternoon coffee and biscuits which were served in the lounge every day between 4 and 6pm. The big downside was the street noise outside particularly on the last Friday we were there. Unfortunately, we were allocated a room at the front of the building overlooking the street ( we should have asked for a quiet room) and it was particularly bad. We both heard what we thought were gun shots at 2am followed by sirens. The noise eventually stopped by about 3.30am but by then neither of us could get to sleep. Not what you want on the night before our flight back to the U.K. We had tried the earplugs provided in the room but they didn't work.

Loved the place. It is a beautiful building and the staff we spoke to obviously cared about the place. Apart from breakfast we ate dinner there one evening, which we really enjoyed. We did get a bit spooked when a local cafe owner told us it was not in a great part of town and that we should be careful. That said, we are Londoners so we know to keep our wits about us wherever we are. We did not experience anything negative at all.

Although the hotel was good with what appeared to be an excellent location in a pedestrianized area, it turned out to be very noisy at night. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly but the service for dinner was a little slow.

Great location for seeing the old town and very attentive staff. Comfortable large rooms. The selection at breakfast was less than in other hotels, but it was more than sufficient. There is a small restaurant in the hotel which was always quiet, but the meal I ate there was delicious.
