La Casa Sol

Open: La Casa Sol is open all year.

Location: La Casa Sol is in the village of Peguche, 3kms north of Otavalo in the highlands of northern Ecuador. It is within the Cascada de Peguche Protected Forest. It is about a 2 hour drive from Quito.

Rooms: There are 8 rooms and 2 suites, all with ensuite bathrooms with 24 hour hot and cold running water. They have open fireplaces, where fires can be lit on cool days. Each room has a balcony and access to the gardens. They are simply but attractively furnished and feature local textiles and decoration.

Activities: You can visit Otavalo, which has a famous market every Saturday. There are also villages to be explored, including Peguche. The lodge has mountain bikes for independent exploration. This is also a good area for walking. Lodge staff are happy to help planning excursions and activities.

Facilities: There is a dining room with a large terrace. Food is authentic Andean cuisine. The lodge has pretty gardens with fruit trees and flowers and a stream flowing through. There is a bar, reading area and a games room with a television. There are wonderful views of the Otavalo valley. The gift shop sells a range of locally-made handicrafts including jewellery. There is a laundry service and limited room service.

Dining: Meals are taken at individual tables in the dining room and on the terrace.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome.

Health: La Casa Sol is not in a malarial area.
