Okavango Delta Botswana

  • Good area for big cats
  • A guide and tracker on each game drive

Kwara Camp by Kwando is in Botswana's Okavango Delta on the edge of the permanent waters, bordering the Moremi Game Reserve. It is within 1,700 km2 of private unfenced wilderness, and staying here you can enjoy the experience both of game viewing on the waters of the Okavango and also on the dry savannah lands between the rivers and lagoons.

Kwara has metamorphosed into an elegant and stylish camp offering a very comfortable stay. The essence of Kwara remains the same, a friendly welcome, local staff and a superb safari experience with expert guides and trackers. The camp has nine luxurious tents accommodating up to 18 guests. Your accommodation is spacious with a bedroom cooled by a ceiling fan and a bed fitted with a mosquito net, step down to a sunken lounge area with a plush sofa and easy chairs. The en-suite bathroom is on the other side of the bedroom with a shower, slipper bathtub and flush toilet plus an additional outdoor shower. Every tent has a private deck overlooking the floodplain. Floor to ceiling windows and sliding french doors make the most of the views, bringing the outside in.

The central area is also tented and consists of several separate areas, all open plan and linked by decking. There's an elegant dining area where delicious meals are served and a lounge where you unwind between activities, the decor is a mixture of classic safari meets Africa. Outdoors, at either end of camp, there is a swimming pool with its own bar and lounge area and a deck with sun loungers. There is a gift shop where you can buy souvenirs.

Kwara Camp offers power boating, mokoro (dugout canoe) trips, walks, game drives and fishing all year round. As Kwara is in a large private concession (as opposed to in a national park) the game drives can also operate off-road and at night, which allows guests to see a greater range of wildlife. Amongst animals frequenting the reserve are hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffalos, zebras, wild dogs, lions, leopards and cheetahs. The area is also famous for its diverse birdlife.

Staying true to the wilderness Kwando camps offer a complete digital detox experience, there is no Wi-Fi and no mobile phone connectivity allowing guests to embrace the natural setting of the camp.
