Perfectly sited in a cluster of kopjes, Kusini Camp is a permanent tented camp that blends into the delicate environment of the predator-rich plains of the Serengeti. The surrounding short grass plains provide the setting for the most spectacular natural phenomenon in the continent of Africa, the wildebeest migration, during which time the hordes amass around the camp for the birthing of their young. The migration comes with its own retinue, and the predators - lion, leopard and cheetah plus countless zebra, gazelle and other plains game add to the spectacle that evolves around you during a stay at Kusini Camp.

Kusini Camp is located in the southern area of the Serengeti National Park. Part of Kusini Camp's charm is its remote and private location within the park borders. With no other permanent camps in the vicinity, Kusini offers exceptional and essentially private game viewing and, from January to March when the migration passes through, this is a superb place to be.

Accommodation is offered in six large tents which are scattered around the main kopje. Each is set under a shady tree and has lots of space, mosquito nets and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Outside there's a generously sized deck where you can watch wildlife as you relax.

Game drives are the main activity here: the park, and the area around Kusini in particular, is noted for its lion and cheetah populations and excellent leopard sightings. Sites such as the nearby Moru Kopjes are also renowned for good resident game, particularly cats, all year round. The woodland area fringing the short grass plains, where Kusini is located, also has high sightings of resident game including rarer species such as klipspringer in addition to some incredible bird-life. Walking safaris are also offered, either straight from camp, or further afield into the Serengeti. No safari is complete without a sundowner and where better to have one that atop one of the kopjes.

The dining tent, lounge and library are housed in the main area, which includes an open deck with magnificent views of the plains. Between safaris you have time for elegant candlelit meals and safari tales in the dining tent, to sip sundowner cocktails and enjoy banquets atop a nearby kopje. You can also take life easy on the deck watching animals at the waterhole, brush up on your natural history knowledge in the library and use the free Wi-Fi to contact family and friends back at home.

Kusini is accessible via airstrip, Serengeti South, and flying time from Arusha is about 90 minutes followed by a 45 minute drive. Road transfers from Ngorongoro Crater take approximately three hours and include game viewing en-route. Children aged eight years and over are welcome at Kusini, though walking is restricted to those 12 and over.
