Koshi Tappu Wildlife Camp is an ideal base from which to explore the reserve, renowned as one of the foremost bird watching destinations in Nepal. Its varied habitats including wetland, forests and grasslands, also attract mammals such as buffalo and blue bull, the largest Asian antelope. There is also a good chance to see gangetic dolphins.

The camp consists of 12 walk-in guest tents providing spacious accommodation. Showers, basins and toilets are in a separate ablution block a short walk away. You'll be able to enjoy local dishes while here, and when not out in the reserve you can sit back and watch birds and butterflies among the trees and flowers in the gardens. There is no electricity (though the camp has a back-up generator), so after dark lamps and candles provide light, which adds to the intimate atmosphere.

You can take walks with your guide and go rafting on the Koshi River, looking out for the plentiful bird life for which Koshi Tappu is known. Anyone with an interest in culture should take the opportunity to visit the nearby village and spend time with local people they go about their daily lives.
