This all-villa resort lies on Michamvi Peninsula, a secluded location on the east coast of Zanzibar. The resort is set on a shallow cliff, with villas spaced across 5 hectares of grounds and amenities including a restaurant, bar, infinity pool and spa.

There are garden view and sea view villas, all identically equipped with spacious bedrooms and living areas, modern en-suite bathrooms, flat screen TVs, tea and coffee makers and minibars. There are three family villas, with larger living rooms that can accommodate up to 2 extra beds. All villas are cooled by air conditioning and have their own gardens with a sunny terrace and a plunge pool.

The restaurant and bar are located by the cliff edge. The restaurant is large, shaded by a high, thatched roof and is open-fronted so you can enjoy views of the ocean and bay as you dine. The bar has lots of comfy seating and covered and sunny areas, where you can enjoy your favourite drink as you chat with other guests. There's a lovely infinity pool here, ideal for cooling swims. A flight of steps leads down to the sandy beach where there are lounges and sunshades waiting. There's also a beach bar, so you don't have to venture far for refreshments. When you feel like some pampering you should head to the Jungle Spa, where trained therapists offer soothing and restorative treatments.

You don't have to do anything other than relax at Konokono, enjoying the sun on your private terrace or on the beach, but if you feel more energetic you can go for walks in the grounds or along the beach, go kite surfing or diving from nearby beaches. The resort has its own catamaran, Julia, for cruises, and staff can arrange various island excursions, so you'll never be short of things to do.
