Open: Konokono Beach Resort is open all year. The month of August and mid-December to mid-January are peak season, high season runs from mid-January to the end of March, the month of July, September to November and early December. There are 2 dry seasons, December to March and June to October and 2 rainy seasons, mid-April to May and November.

Location: Konokono Beach Resort is on the Michamvi Peninsula by Chwaka Bay on Zanzibar’s east coast. The airport is about an hour’s drive away.

Rooms: There are 24 villas, some with garden views, others overlooking the sea and 3 family villas. They are set in 5 hectares of land and each has its own private garden, patio and plunge pool. Indoors there’s a bedroom with seating area and an en-suite bathroom. Villas feature LCD TV, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, safe and air conditioning. Family villas can accommodate up to 4 people, with 2 beds in the large living room.

Activities: At Konokono you can go swimming in the pool, sunbathe on the beach and take strolls along the strand. Kite surfing is available at Paje beach and you can go diving at Mnemba Atoll or at the reef off Michamvi beach. The hotel has a catamaran for cruises. Excursions to places of interest on Zanzibar such as Jozani Forest can be arranged by the concierge.

Facilities: The large, open-sided restaurant is set at the top of the cliff, so has wonderful views of Michamvi Bay. The adjoining bar is a great place to watch the sunset. The hotel has its own beach, reached by a flight of steps from the restaurant, complete with sun loungers, sunshades and a beach bar serving drinks and snacks. There’s an infinity pool and a spa where you can indulge in your choice of treatments. Staff can arrange excursions on request. There is a laundry service

Dining: Meals are eaten at individual tables. Regional and international cuisines are available.

Children: Children of all ages are welcome.
