There are two Kirurumu Under Canvas camps, one of which, the mobile camp, moves between locations in north and south Serengeti while the other remains in the central region of the national park.

The two sites ensure optimum game viewing. From June to October, the mobile camp is in Kogatende in the northern Serengeti, well-positioned for migration river crossings. This area has plentiful resident wildlife outside the migration time so there's always a lot to see. Between mid-December and the end of March the camp moves to the Ndutu area in southern Serengeti, where you can observe migration herds including newborns during the wildebeest calving season (mid-February to early March). Lakes attract plains game from surrounding areas and predators often seen here include lion and cheetah.

The central semi-permanent camp of Kirurumu Under Canvas has a fixed location and is open from mid-June to the end of October and again from mid-December to the end of March. This is an area of open plains, hills and kopjes with excellent wildlife viewing and the added bonus of the migration usually passing through from April to June and again in November and December.

Morning and afternoon game drives are the main activity at both camps, between which you rest in camp sitting out the hottest part of the day. Relax in the lounge-dining tent as you chat to other guests, enjoy sociable meals and leaf through reference books. Each evening the fire is lit by the main tents and you gather for sundowners and snacks prior to a candle-lit dinner.

Both camps have seven tents providing spacious and comfy, en-suite accommodation with a private shaded terrace. The mobile tents are slightly larger and have solar showers, while those in the central camp have traditional bucket showers.

We loved it. The staff and host, Godwin, were amazing. Loved it and the food was exquisite. They catered for gluten and dairy-free brilliantly.
