Open: Kirindy Lodge is open all year. It was formerly called Kirindy Gite.
Location: This government-run lodge provides the accommodation inside Kirindy Forest Reserve, about 50kms north of Morondava.
Rooms: These are quite basic wooden bungalows, each with a private shower room with cold running water, a hand basin and a flush toilet. Beds are fitted with mosquito nets. Electricity is available for a limited time in the evenings via a generator.
Activities: You stay here to visit Kirindy Forest Reserve, a region of dry, deciduous forest which has a population of fossas, Madagascar’s largest carnivore, as well as 7 species of lemur, many reptiles and birds, and the giant jumping rat. Day and night guided walks are possible.
Facilities: The hotel has a restaurant, a bar and a lounge.
Dining: Meals are eaten at individual tables in the open-sided restaurant. Food is simple but tasty.
Children: Children are welcome.
Health: This is a malarial area.
Communication: There is no Wi-Fi internet access.

EnquireMore reviewsWe loved Kirindy Lodge. It was exactly what it said on the can. The bathrooms were poor and without running hot water but there was a bottomless supply of hot water on request and a huge bucket of almost boiling hot water was brought to your bathroom. The room was clean and comfortable. You were in the middle of nature and could walk into the forest following fosa (at a respectable distance), looking for birds, finding lemurs, etc. The food was good home cooking in large quantities and considering it was all cooked on fires outside was amazing. There was a large choice of dishes. The staff were lovely, friendly and spoke some English
