King Lewanika Lodge is a luxury lodge deep in the Liuwa Plains National Park, a remote and pristine wilderness in western Zambia. The lodge is named after the Lozi king who first proclaimed Liuwa a protected area in the 1880s, and is the only permanent safari lodging in the national park. King Lewanika Lodge was built and is operated by Norman Carr Safaris, a well-respected safari company, with over 60 years experience.

Liuwa Plains landscape consists of sweeping grasslands, floodplains and small wooded islands, and is home to a wide array of wildlife including zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, red lechwe and tessebe, attracting lions, cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs. Birdlife abounds, with some 334 species recorded. On top of that, Africa's second biggest wildebeest migration occurs here annually. All of this makes King Lewanike Lodge is wonderful base for a safari, offering a mix of 4x4 game drives and bush walks all led by knowledgeable guides, to help you get to know this unpsolit area.

When not out on safari you can relax at the lodge, chatting with other guests in the lounge, browsing through reference books and enjoying expansive views from the deck. There's a shaded area for al fresco dinng, with dinner eaten by candlelight, and the day ends round the campfire under the star-filled African sky.

The villas are supremely spacious, divided into three distinct areas. The bedroom has a double or 2 twin beds, all with mosquito nets. To one side there's a dressing area with hanging space and shelves for clothes storage, and a large sofa, and the third space is the bathroom with a large vanity unit with twin hand basins, an indoor shower and an outdoor shower. Different areas can be divided by curtains. All these rooms are open-fronted, with canvas drapes that can be drawn across for privacy. The deck runs the whole width of the villa and faces the floodplain.
