Open: Ukhozi Lodge is open all year. It re-opened after refurbishment in September 2018.

Location: Ukhozi Lodge is in Kariega Game Reserve, about a 5 minute drive Main Lodge. The nearest airport is at Port Elizabeth, about 90 minutes away.

Rooms: There are 10 air-conditioned suites. Each has a king size bed, sofa, coffee table, tea and coffee maker, minibar, telephone, safe, hairdryer and en-suite bathroom with a shower cubicle, bath and twin hand basins. Outside there is a deck with a plunge pool.

Activities: Morning and afternoon game drives, nature walks, morning boat trips on the Kariega River, canoeing and fishing. It should be noted that walking guides are often not armed unless looking for white rhino and we do not recommend accompanying unarmed guides on walks in Kariega among big game. It is possible to visit beaches at Kenton-on-Sea, historical towns such as Grahamstown, Salem and Port Alfred, and play golf at nearby courses.

Facilities: There is a large lounge with sofas, an open fire and floor-to-ceiling windows, a dining area with a solid fuel burner, bar, reading/TV room and a wine cellar. These are set round a courtyard garden. There is a spa, and a little way off there’s a semi-circular infinity pool with a sundeck and loungers. Guests at Ukhozi have access to the wellness centre and gym at Main Lodge.

Dining: Meals usually eaten as a group.

Children: Children aged 11 years and over are welcome.

Health: This is not a malarial area.

Communication: There is internet access in communal areas.
