Settlers Drift is the jewel in the crown of Kariega Game Reserve. It provides top quality accommodation comprising exceptionally spacious suites and elegant social areas set in a quiet location above the Bushman's River. Much of your day is spent exploring the private Big 5 reserve. Morning and afternoon 4x4 safaris incorporate refreshment stops, and you can ring the changes with a boat ride on the river or a guided bush walk. With opportunities for canoeing and fishing, too, there's plenty to keep you occupied.

Back at Settlers Drift your tented suite is set on a hardwood base and contains an indoor sitting area and a covered deck where you can relax surrounded by nature and secluded from other suites. Inside you can select air conditioning or use the wood burning stove to regulate the temperature as desired, and help yourself to hot and cold drinks. The bathroom is equally hi-spec, with two hand basins, a large shower cubicle, deep bathtub and triple aspect windows. There's an additional shower outdoors.

The high-ceilinged central areas are open plan and lead out to a wide deck with steps down to the firepit surrounded by cushioned seating. The lounge has sofas,  armchairs and an open fire, and the dining area has glass doors which can be folded back to admit the fresh air. The bar is another light room opening out on to the deck. From all of these locations you have excellent views down to the river and valley. The lodge's wine cellar is a cosy venue for tastings, while the open air boma is used for dining by lamplight. Private dinners and bush breakfasts can also be arranged. The infinity pool is set on a lower deck for a degree of privacy, and there's a tented sala where you can enjoy expertly administered massages.
