Open: Kanha Jungle Lodge is open from mid-October to mid-June each year.
Location: The lodge is in 3.5 hectares of forested grounds just 1 km from the Mukki entrance to Kanha National Park. The nearest airports are at Jabalpur 176 kms away, and Nagpur 270 kms away.
Rooms: There are 18 rooms and 2 cottages, all en-suite with full running water and a supply of toiletries. Bedrooms have writing desks and chairs and plenty of storage space. The rooms have shared outdoor seating areas. Cottages are the deluxe option and have private rear patios. Hot water bottles are provided on cool nights.
Activities: Take morning and afternoon jeep safaris in Kanha National Park with one of the lodge's naturalist guides. Morning safaris include a bush breakfast. It is also possible to take an elephant-back safari, subject to availability. Go for nature walks with a guide in the lodge's grounds which are largely given over to the sal forest, where you can see birds and butterflies. You can also take a tour of the organic produce garden and the medicinal plant garden. Watch flying squirrels in the gardens, which usually put on an aerial display just before 7 each evening and after dark you can enjoy star gazing. It's possible to visit the local village, school and market with a guide from the lodge.
Facilities: The social core of the lodge is the thatched dining and lounge area. Outside there's a terrace for alfresco dining. The lodge's courtyard acts as a gathering place where you can chat to other guests, has a hammock for lazing and is a good spot for star gazing by night. The library has a collection of books you're welcome to look through. The gift shop stocks a range of items including clothes and books.
Dining: Meals are served in the dining room and on the terrace. Both Indian and western dishes are served. The lodge has an organic vegetable garden which provides much of the fresh produce used to create the meals.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome. There are age limits on certain activities.
Health: We recommend malaria prophylactics for travel to India.
Communication: There is no internet access.
