Open:  Jaguar Ecological Reserve is open all year.

Location:  Jaguar Ecological Reserve is located in the heart of the northern Pantanal. It is situated in 1200 hectares. The lodge is 4 hours’ drive from Cuiaba.  

Rooms:  There are 15 guest rooms. All have a private bathroom with hot water (solar powered), mosquito nets, ceiling fan and a veranda with hammocks. Accommodation is basic but comfortable.   

Activities  Canoe excursions, boat trips on the Cuiaba River looking for wildlife, guided trail walks, wildlife viewing, bird watching, night safaris, horse riding.

Facilities:   The dining room is open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. It specialises in local dishes. Soft drinks, bottled water and beer are available, as well as the caipirinha (rum, lime and sugar). There is a small shop selling locally-made crafts and clothes. There is a limited supply of electricity, usually in the evening.  

Dining:  Meals are taken at individual tables.

Children:  Children of all ages are welcome.

Health: Malaria prophylactics are recommended for the Pantanal.

Communication: There is no internet access.

Simple rustic charm. Very local feel. 45 min drive to Porto Jofre each day but bird and some animal viewing en route. Local accompanied nature trails.
