Open: Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo is open all year.
Location: THe hotel is located in Machu Picchu Pueblo (formerly Aguas Calientes), 112kms from Cusco. It is a short walk from the train station and near the bus station for the journey to Machu Picchu. It is set in 12 acres of grounds.
Rooms: There is a range of accommodation, from superior rooms to suites, all with en-suite bathrooms and complimentary toiletries. Suites feature a separate sitting area and many have a terrace or balcony. Larger suites have free Wi-Fi internet access, plasma screen TV, minibar, DVD player and iPod. The Inkaterra Suite has a private garden and pool. There are also guest villas with private terraces and pools and 24-hour butler service. The villas and the 6 interconnecting rooms are ideal for families. There are 85 rooms in total.
Activities Exploring Machu Picchu. The hotel arranges guided nature walks along trails in the grounds, early morning bird watching, walks in the orchid garden, twilight walks and visits their own organic tea plantation. It is also possible to visit the Spectacled Bear Project, designed to rescue and protect bears that have suffered as a result of human contact. There are several excursions that guests can arrange and pay for locally to sites of interest near the hotel.
Facilities: The hotel has a swimming pool fed by spring water. There is a dining room serving fusion cuisine and a bar both overlooking the Urubamba River. There are terraces for al fresco dining. Cafe Inkaterra specialises in Andean cuisine. The Unu Spa offers a range of treatments including sauna, massage, reflexology and Andean hot stones. Jewellery, clothes, handicrafts, toiletries and guidebooks can be bought at the hotel guest shop. The media centre has books and magazines about nature-related subjects and a book exchange. The resident biologist gives presentations in the evenings.
Dining: Meals are taken at individual tables.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome. Many of the hotel's activities (guided nature walks etc) are suitable for children. Children are offered a Child's Explorer Kit, with a torch, cap and coloured pencils. There are connecting rooms for families and cribs can be supplied on request. The hotel offers a children's menu, high chairs, and a baby-sitting service (for an extra fee).
Health: Machu Picchu is not a malarial area.
Communication:There is free high speed internet access in Cafe Inkaterra and the suites.
