The House of Waine is a private house, owned and run by a Kenyan family, which first opened as a hotel in 2004. It is situated in just over a hectare of elegant and peaceful gardens in the quiet suburb of Karen, named after Karen Blixen who once lived in the area. This is a convenient and safe stop over, just 20 mins from Wilson (domestic) airport and 40 mins from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
The hotel is of a high standard, beautifully and uniquely furnished with all modern comforts but in a friendly relaxing atmosphere. Each guest room is named and decorated according to a particular theme. Every room has a TV. phone, free Wi-Fi, hot drinks facilities, non alchoholic minibar and en-suite marble bathroom with a supply of toiletries. All are air conditioned.
Guests have access to the lounge, a good place to unwind with its sofas and coffee tables. There is a light and airy breakfast room and dinner is available on request in the dining room which has an open fire. Outside there is a large heated swimming pool and the gardens are full of shrubs and trees.
Close by, the area of Karen, is the Giraffe Centre, the Daphne Sheldrick Animal Orphanage, a large traditional crafts centre and many other shops, cafes and attractions.
